a good A4 printer for proofs
« on: February 03, 2009, 02:45:25 pm »

I usually print on an Epson 9800 but when I'm on location and living out of a hotel I need an A4 size printer for proofs, I don't want to compromise on quality too much as of course colour accuracy is very important for proofs for a client. Does anyone know of a printer that can do this?

I don't think there's an A4 printer to beat the Epson R800. I've been using mine for best part of 4 years now, and have never had any problems, though the original canned profiles left a lot to be desired (the later ones, identifiable by "R1" in the name are much better). It was my sole printer til I got a 3800Pro recently.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "proofs", but Uwe Steinmuller recommends the R800 as a proofing printer here: http://www.outbackphoto.com/printinginsigh...Epson_R800.html (scroll down to entry of 7/21/2004)
