Computer Upgrade?
« on: January 26, 2009, 11:04:09 am »

Looking to upgrade my 4 year old computer and found this to be very appealling.
I am running CS4 Extendend as well as Lightroom for all my photo work.
What do you think of the spec's?
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

I agree on both points.

I could live with the case, but I would max out the memory to 16GB right away.
I suspect they have "Total expansion slots" and "Available expansion slots" reversed in the specs.

Looks like a good start.  I agree with the memory expansion to as much as you can.  I expect that there are 6 memory slots and 3 are now being taken up with 1G sticks.  You can either add 3 more 1G to a max of 6G or sell the 1G sticks and buy some 2G sticks that will get you op to 12G.  This might cost you up to $350 or more depending on what memory you choose.

I agree, more mem and some masking tape =)

Another thing you may wanna consider is Dell. for the same price you can get almost the same system with a 23 inch monitor and 6GB ram (and much prettier!!)

Dell XPS Desktops

whether you want a dell or not, that's another story!

The Dell S2309W 23" monitor (if that is the one you are referring to) uses a TN panel.   A poor match for photography.  (And really anything else.)
