New Apple OsX.5 HP drivers update corrupts 3.1 raster driver
« on: January 23, 2009, 06:33:43 am »

I installed the auto software update for HP printer software on the latest 10.5.6 version of Leopard.

Strange but it overwrites the installed raster driver which then is damaged according to the print driver dialogue.

The new version has most of the print set up for generic printing, but is missing things like gloss enhancer, color options etc.

Easy to fix, download the 3.1 driver from HP , reinstall, and all is well again.

I have no idea if this will overwrite the Z3100 driver as well, post back here if so.

Strange,

I accepted the update from Apple?

The Z3100 raster driver still works, but the driver version is 2.3.1 and the latest one I see on the HP web site is 2.3.

Where did you find version 3.1?

thanks
Gary

I suppose the driver version for the 3200 is 3.1 then. In fact it does list the driver with the 9180 as 2.4 when installing so it must be the most recent but only for the 3200. Sooner or later the 3.1 will be updated with other printers in the list.
