Solar charger for iPhone
« on: January 23, 2009, 04:01:31 am »

Hi Folks:

No experience with this, but I came across it in an article today:
http://www.solararcadia.com/products/iphone-solar-charger-01

Would be good if it works, but does it mean you can only walk in the direction that has the sun on your phone side?

Mike.

EDIT: Fixed the link.

Mike, your link doesn't work. Here is the correct link: http://www.solararcadia.com/products/iphone-solar-charger-01

I didn't try that solar charger but I tried the Solio Classic ( http://www.solio.com/charger/explore-solio...t-is-solio.html ) and I found that it didn't work too well. Unless you live in very sunny regions and have patience, you'd better invest your money into an additional external battery pack or in a hand-operated charger.

The Solio also has an internal battery so, if this battery is charged, it can be useful but charging an iPhone (or iPod) on solar power only didn't prove too effective.

I should perhaps move to southern Arizona!
