ColorThink question
« on: January 20, 2009, 07:45:06 pm »

I am using ColorThink Pro 3.0 and it is supposed to be able to create a 3-D graph of the colors in an image. However, the instructions in the documentation do not work. Can someone help?  Thanks,

You can drag and drop (or use Open) and load an image from within the 3D gamut area (same Open you'd use to access a profile). But it should be small or this app will bog down big time.

Thanks for the reply, but this does not work (or I am doing it wrong):

1) Open Grapher window, make sure it's active.
2) File, Open.
3) Open JPG or TIFF file.

Image opens in the Color Worksheet window but is not graphed.

See the Plot Items dialog? Its got a + popup menu with an Open... command.

And, if you have a color worksheet, you can graph from there too. There's a little down arrow in the Profiles area (just to the right of the profile name). Open in Graph is an option.

Be careful ... a big image has a tough time loading. (as Andrew mentioned).

I normally down rez an image to fit about 500x500 pixels or so before trying to graph it.  I still get a pretty good idea where the image gamut is.  Think I got that idea from the LL video interview with Bill Atkinson some time ago.

Got it! I see what you mean about bogging down, but it is a very useful tool.

Thanks for your help,
