Rob, slightly off topic but may be useful info. I have been using a leather wrist strap on a 40D (the strap itself I think is from the 1960's). It was no trouble to unscrew it from the L plate for tripod use and I loved carrying the camera by my side where it was completely unobtrusive and could quickly be brought to eye level. However this movement from the waist to eye, moving across the front of my body with all that weight, gave me an unpleasant case of tennis elbow which after 6 months I'm still waiting to heal. Apparently this happens quite commonly. I now reluctantly use a good detachable neck strap and use both hands to lift the camera. If I happen to be holding the camera in my right hand I've gotten into the habit of reaching down with my left hand and then using both to lift. David
