A client needs to print his images on a Xerox IGEN printer (don't know what type). I want to output sharpen the image for him specifically for this printer with Photokit Sharpener. They demand 300ppi, CMYK images (iso uncoated). What kind of printer is this Xerox IGEN? A Halftone printer or a Contone printer?Product information here from a current IGEN printer.Since they (Xerox) talk about LPI on the website, I guess a halftone printer, but the employee of this printing service talks about a laserprinter, I think this is contone....
Dry toner it says. Electrostatic printers (Xerox principle) usually print images with halftone screening. I guess the 300 PPI is a bit on the optimistic side given the screening LPI possible with 600x600 dpi 8 bits. But they may want to enlarge them.Ernst DinklaTry: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Wide_Inkjet_Printers/
Thank you for your answer. What do you mean with 'a bit optimistic'. I understand the optimal resolution is 2 x LPI. So I guess they use 150LPI on this printer, or am I wrong? The image (on a card) will have a dimension of 10,5 x 7 cm (4.1 x 2.8 inch).
