Cleaning a lens...seems to have grease?

hi there...have a Nikon 24-70mm and sea-spray, rain etc has got to lens....i clean it with water and then lens fluid....but at the end there always seems to be like some weird very very very thin layer of like grease or something....it sort of creates a mosaic of colours.....dunno....so anyway....its as clean as i can get it really....im wondering whether it has some sort of lens coating or somethiong i may be taking off with all this cleaning....mm.mmmmmm....that would not make sense to have....surely the front glass is just glass no???? can anyone one lecture me on this????? thanks!

I find that a very clean microfiber cloth and Eclipse fluid do a very good job of cleaning this type of residue.

Alcohol works wonders on grease. Make sure you keep changing whatever you're wiping with as well otherwise
you end up smudging the remaining grease.
