Unable to find all images with a particular keyword.
« on: January 03, 2009, 11:08:48 am »

My keyword list in LR 2.2 includes the keyword "Spain" and indicates that there are 114 images with this key word. If I select the "Spain" keyword tag and click the right-pointing arrow next to the photo count, instead of finding 114 images, LR finds just 2! Lightroom also opens the Library Filter bar and displays Metadata keyword criteria, as it should.  The filter bar correctly shows the Spain filter but shows an image count of 2 items.  All other filter columns are correctly set to "ALL".  Why can't LR find the other 112 images that the keyword list records as having the keyword "Spain"

On finding the images visually by trawling through the thumbnails, I can see that they do not have "Spain" keyword in the keyword tags box - so where is LR getting its count of 114 images from?

Any ideas appreciated.

Mike

Try running a Catalog Settings > Optimize. Sounds like the counters need resetting.

Is the Spain keyword in a flat list of keywords, or in a hierarchical style one?

And try setting up a Smart Collection - "Keywords / Contains / Spain" and see how many items are found.

One possibility is you have something else set in Filter Panel eg ratings.

Many thanks John - running optimize has fixed the problem.

Had a similar problem.

LR 2.2 would not find a photo from a keyword.

Turned out that the photo was in a stack.

Unstacked and searched... it found the photo.

Re-stacked and searched... LR was able to find photo.
