A few hummingbirds from last spring and summer
« on: January 03, 2009, 08:45:14 am »

Howdy all. I thought I'd share some hummingbird shots from last year. I put a lot of effort into capturing these photos, I even went to Costa Rica in March. When I returned home to NH I was able to snag a pair of ruby throated hummingbirds to my feeders and I was able to photograph them just outside my home for a few months.

Here are three from Costa Rica,

These next few are ruby throated hummingbirds from my back yard.

Here is a 100% crop.

The quality is great.  I assume you used flash.  Care to elaborate?

Yes I used flashes for all of the photos. For the first three shots I used two soft boxes and some fill flashes. The last two photos I used 6 Canon 430 flashes, some with diffusers.

Beautiful work.  I am sure it required a lot of patience to get those.  Thanks for sharing.

I just realized that my 100% crop  image doesn't appear in my first post, here it is.

Absolutely wonderful!

If you don't mind my asking, what was the equipment you used?

Thanks,
