SlideShowPro inside a webiste
« on: December 31, 2008, 05:14:42 pm »

I'm trying to use SSP for my gallery in a new website.  I've got the gallery and albums created, and have successfully linked to it from the rest of the site.  The problem is there is no way out once you get in there.  I am a weak neophyte with html, and know absolutely nothing about flash.  Since SSP is a flash based gallery, I have no idea how to embed a very simple link "home." Is there some easy way to do this inside an swf file?

I found the instructions on the website how to embed the whole thing into another html document, which I tried.  I ended up with the gallery inside a big black box that's in the wrong position.  Fixing all that goes beyond my 1-1/2 weeks of self-taught html.

Any thoughts?

Sorry, the more I thought about this the more I decided to ditch trying to do this with SlideShowPro since I just don't know jack about flash.  I went back to TTG and got the album index.  Now I'll just do everything with Mathew's templates.

Oh come on - you give people an hour, at this time of year, to help you move forward, and then give up?

Dave,

With all due respect to Matthew and the TTG templates, SSP together SSP Director is a far more flexible platform.  Embedding the SSP gallery in an HTML page isn't that difficult... like you,  I know sweet zip about html and flash... but I managed to figure it out.  My site is based almost entirely on SSP Director.  Here's a link to one of my Gallery pages ... feel free to hijack the code, particularly the embedding section that allows you to float the SSP Gallery within the page.  A word of caution, anyone conversant in HTML and the like (such as John) will likely turn their noses up at my coding... it's pretty kludgy I'm sure.  Also, portions of the code are copyright by others ( the javascript menus for example) and require that the html links and credit remain intact to use them.

But, as I said it's really not that difficult to embed an SSP gallery in a web page.

http://wiki.slideshowpro.net/SSPfl/UG-Introduction  <--this link should give you the basic information you need to get the flash embedded.  If you're using SSP Director, it's a bit different, but the information can also be found in the same website.
