DB for a Fuji GX 680 II
« on: December 30, 2008, 08:44:24 pm »

I have 4 GX 680s, a Linhof Kardan and some RB 67s. Which DB would you recommend?

Moreover, a word on these warranties would be appreciated! Seems to be crucial, to get some cover for such an expensive item. The need to look past the sticker price is clear after reading a P 22 thread. Cheers and may you all have a better 2009!

Some Sinar backs will fit the Fuji. See sinar.ch for details. As Sinar uses the adapter system, they will also fit many other cameras. It's the best way to go if you want to suport several specialised cameras.

You can go with any of the Phase One digital backs and with the proper adapter plates, it will fit on all of your current camera systems.  Phase One does not make one specifically for the Fuji GX 680, but a company called Kapture Group  ( http://www.kapturegroup.com ) does.  We have several clients currently using this system and like the ability to be able to have tilts / swings.

The flexibility of the Sinar System with different types of cameras is great. You can easily change the mounting system.

To work with one back on these 3 systems you should look for a back that comes in a V-Series ("universal" mount).

As Chris suggested, KaptureGroup make an adapter for the GX680 and it works well albeit the 70's look and the chunkiness.

For the RB we (Leaf) make an adapter that allows you to clip the back on/off the camera and also to rotate it like a film magazine. It also comes with a mask for the viewfinder (see attached extract from the installation guide). We also make an adapter for the RB for backs in Mamiya AFD mounts

For the Linhof we (Leaf) also make a Graflok adapter and you can chose from 5 different types.

I hope this helps

I have a Fuji 680 III which has been sitting there waiting for a good option, hopefully 2009 it will come.

I shoot a H3d 39, so far there has not been an adapter that would work for me, the Kapture group one has issues with infinity focus, so the camera has just sat there.

A couple of photographers i know shoot the phase but find the clunky box a little limiting, but it does work well.

The Hasselblad backs dont require this adapter AND kapture group are working on a hasseblad(H mount) adapter that wont have the infinty focus issue, so, from my POV, H3D is a great option....

All the best

Any haselblad ixpress and hasselblad CF back will fit to all those camera's. You only have to change adapterplates, something that takes 2 minutes. Ni hassle with infinity problems, chunky release cables, time lapse between pushing the button and the actual taking of the picture.
It works jus fine and keeps working.
i have and had a huge collection of camera's, from the H3d to the rolleiflex SL66, actually i think it is the only digital SL66 existing...mamiya RZ, 645pro, 645super ,contax 645, hasselblad v, rollei 6001/3/8, H1, H2, sinar P2, Rollei x-act, Kiev 88..... and all these camera's work perfect with all my ixpress backs ( the h3d only with the h3back). I think a lot of people forget about the hasselblad/imacon back's when looking for a back but you really better take a look at them.
