Can a cf card start on one camera, expose several images, and then be put into another camera without overwritng or losing the original images.
A friend called with this dilemma: A card was started on a Nikon D70 but then given to another photographer who was using a Nikon D70S. He can see on the LCD of the D70s any of the images he shot but not find the ones started on the D70. Furthermore, his mac computer tells him there are no images (at all) on the card. He assured me that the card was not reformatted when iit was switched. I'm unfamilar with the nikon dslrs and what might cause such confusion.
I'm a Canon user, and I tried a similar scenario with my 20D and my 10D and a lexar 1G card. I had 100 images already still on my card, taken with my 20D. I put it into my 10D and took 7 more. I had no problem loading all 107 onto my pc. Using breezebrowser, I have all the images and the info concerning which camera shot which images. IN FACT, the card numbered them sequentially, the last 20D image being 5781 and the first 10D image being 5782.
So, who has had similar experiences and can offer suggestions? My friend and I would like to salvage the images from both photographers (d70 and D70s)
As i said, I am unfamilar with the finer points of Nikon dslrs, but I know some of you out there use them, and your help is much appreciated.
Thanks again,
Pete
