LR 2 Crash and Burn
« on: December 08, 2008, 12:22:27 pm »

It's a nightmare.   I need some serious help.

After working like a charm LR is now not working. It began to crash on load so I deleted Preferences. That allowed me to load LR but only after a reboot.

I did a control/load and attempted to test integrity of my catalog but could not.

Nor could I load my catalog.

I then moved Presets and I was able to load LR.

I created a new catalog and added a photo but LR still crashes when I try to get into Develop.

I do have a complete backup of everything LR on an external HDD.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

XP Pro
4 GB ram
Dual core processor

maybe you should just reinstall LR, sounds like something got corrupted, all of your personal files and preferences should not be touched.

I should have included that in my list.  I did reinstall it.  Still NG.

See if there is an updated driver for your video card.

Sorry to hear that you're having these problems. Have you contacted Adobe about it?

I sent them an email but have not heard back yet.

But I have made some progress.  I updated the video driver (thank you Walter) and now I can load LR with the test catalog I created yesterday.  I can now also get into Develop etc. without crashing.

BUT

I can't load my default catalog.  Does this mean it's corrupted?

Thanks.

Problem solved.  Found my latest backup and restored my primary catalog.

Thank the LR gods I had auto backup working or I would have been SOL.

Instead I'm PDL.
