Hi all - I've run into a problem with my R2400 printer. Bottom line is that is prints cyan-colored bands perpendicular to the parth of paper travel.
Here are the details:
* Operating systems: Win XP Pro on a Dell XPS 450 (dual Xeon) (SP3) and Mac OSX (MacBook Pro 17" dual core);
* Applications: Lightroom 2.1, PhotoShop (both CS2 and CS4); Preview, Acrobat;
* Connection: direct FireWire;
* Papers: Epson Velvet, plain paper, Epson Heavy Weight Matt;
* Replaced ink tanks (none < 1/4 before replacing);
* Ink: all genuine Epson
* Printer maintenance - checked nozzles (ok) cleaned nozzles several time (same cyan colored banding but the individual ink colors were fine.
What's interesting is that if I run a print in economy mode, I don't get the banding. But as soon as I try to print in any type of photo mode, the bands return. In fact, the frequency of the bands increase as the print quality settings also increase.
Anyone have any ideas on this? I'm afraid that the printer is dead, but want to see what the community thinks and if this is worth fixing. Unfortunately, there are no Epson repair centers nearby and the cost of shipping and repair may mean that its time to dispose of this printer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. At least I can stop wasting paper!
thanks
