Canon 1Ds MkII vs 1D MkII
« on: July 08, 2005, 04:45:48 pm »

I'm in the same boat I ordered my 1Ds Mkii yesterday and hopefully I will get by tuesday or wednesday.
My experience is that with the  original 1ds Mki I had sharper images with more detail than the 1d Mkii, but the 1D Mkii is great to, with some sharpening tecnics you get good 11 x 14 prints .

Canon 1Ds MkII vs 1D MkII
« Reply #1 on: July 08, 2005, 03:38:34 am »

I purchased a Canon 1D MkII about a year ago when they first came out. I've been very happy with the results although sharpening in Photoshop is always required to get good results printed to 11 x 14 on my Epson 2200.

Yesterday I just ordered a Canon 1Ds MkII. Aside from the full frame benefit for my wide angle lenses, I am hoping for sharper, higher quality prints 11 x 14 and larger.

Any one out there own both bodies wishing to share their experiences?

Thanks.

It's here! My 1Ds MkII arrived today from Roberts Imaging. $7399 for an official USA warranty version.

I quickly unpacked it and installed the charged battery from my 1D MkII. I took a few shots of the new landscaping being installed at my new home. Not the best subject matter, but it quickly demonstrated the quality difference between the 16MP 1Ds images and the 8 MP images from the 1D.

In a word, WOW!!!!

I'm going to be listing my mint condition 1D MkII on ebay for $3,200. Any takers?
