7880 Line Flush Question
« on: November 20, 2008, 10:06:56 pm »

I have a  line in a Epson 7880 light black and light light black line I would like to flush.  Anyone know how other than printing those colors on cheap paper using an 8 color chart?
(anyone have one handy)

However it would be nice just to be able to flush one line though a function in the control panel or software.

Responding to my own post again. Apparently epson has a flushing kit you can borrow when you need to transport the printer but it flushes all the lines. :-(

No one forsaw the need to flush 1 color only?  Is this a function in HP printers?

because the capping unit on the pro7880 printers covers the whole head there's no way to just empty one line. newer Pro7900 can flush two lines at a time because the inking system and head is split 2 x5,

options are taking the line off at the damper assy on the head, taking the ink cart out and locking the leaver then draw out the ink manually

or

doing about five power cleans.

using a purge pattern will take forever as there's around 30ml of ink in the line, damper and head. one A3 at 280% ink is about 2.7ml of ink on paper.

Thank you for the reply.
Is it possible to print a photo only in that color? I posted a related question in the Photoshop forum.

What option would you do? Power cleaning uses all inks :-(   Do you have detailed instructions for the first option?
