Epson 4800 recognition problem.
« on: November 18, 2008, 11:28:10 am »

Hopefully someone can slap some clarity into my head as I must be missing something obvious.

I've recently upgraded from 10.4.11 to  10.5.4 and can't get my 4800 to print.

I downloaded and installed the most current drivers from Epson but still, nada.

My system recognizes the printer in the proper USB port and Epson utilities properly triggers maintenance tasks such as
head cleaning but when i go to print the dialogue box indicates a 'sending data' message that never ends.
While this is happening the green 'pause' indicator flashes continually.

Thx,
Mark

Find [Mac HD > library > printers > EPSON] trash (and empty) the [EPSON] folder then restart the Mac, reinstall the latest driver and try a job again.

If that's no good make another account on the Mac and do the same and retry. You may need to install any other Epson printers, if you have them.

Thanks.

With a little bit of fussing (multiple install attempts, crashing PS,and missing profiles) your suggestion was the root of the solution
