Anyone using Delkin eFilm ExpressCard 34 - UDMA?
« on: November 18, 2008, 10:57:31 am »

Hi -

I use a Sandisk Extreme FW800/400 reader & have been very happy with it.

I have just upgraded my laptop to the previous version Macbook Pro 2.4
and am trying to find ways to lessen the amount of wires/cables I have to take with me when I travel.

It seems that the way to go would be with an ExpressCard 34, and I have been looking at the - Delkin eFilm ExpressCard 34 - UDMA enabled.

Some of the store reviews that I have read seem to indicate mixed feelings, but I think that most of them are referring to the previous iteration which topped out at 20mb/s.

In fact, most of the online sellers (Adorama, B&H, etc.) still list the specs of the "old version" with the manufacturers part# for the new version.

Has anyone tried this new reader? And if so, your likes and dislikes, if you please.

Also, how have users felt towards the earlier version?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Jeff

I use the new one in my MBP.  I got it for the reasons you mention, no-cable convenience. It works fine, but is no faster than a typical USB2 reader.
