Basiccolor and JustNormlicht software
« on: November 17, 2008, 10:22:55 am »

Hi!
Has anyone had experiences with either "Basiccolor display4" or "Just Normlicht adJUST" monitor calibration software?
From the specs I understood that the both have the ability to provide hardware calibration for suitable Eizo and Nec displays.
adJust can also communicate between Just's own viewing booths and match the luminance between the booth and display. Anyone tried?

Cheers,
J

Ive used and installed both, Basiccolor is a calibration software that has the advantage of accessing the eizo monitor hardware which some others cannot, however the eizo coloredge software does a good job in this respect.
The Just Normlicht Adust is in another ball game.
when you calibrate the light booth with this software against a calibrated monitor the printed image
and the screen have an amazing resemblance that I have not seen under any other lighting condition.
I use the eye one with the light detecting head option Of course you have to have a Just Calibrator light viewing screen to use it.
I can send you more if you need.

Many thanks for the info.

I would like to hear how either of these programs plays with displays made by Nec, especially 2690. Are the results comparable to spectraview software (internal hi-bit LUT)? If yes, then are either of the aforementioned programs compatible with the non SV-version of this display? I would be most interested in the adJUST because of the simultaneous booth-calibration feature for mostly prepress applications.
Thanks in advance.

They don't play together. The NEC software is an integrated system. There's some internal calibration processes the NEC software/hardware combo provide that's not possible with any outside product.

Yes, indeed as NEC has licensed, in Europe, this product to drive their displays.

Thanx for your answers!

I'm in EU. That's why I asked about these programs because both of the manufacturers claim to be able to provide hardware-calibration for some displays and adJUST specifically is mentioned to support some Necs.

Also I understood from Just's specs that some parts of the software are made by Basiccolor.

edit:
Now the real question, to support or not to support non-SV versions of wuxi? The SV-version costs almost double that of non-SV (in EU) and although they are probably better quality panels (hand picked) with better uniformity, I have not heard of any bad experiences from the US-customers who have bought a non-SV display and then the Nec software.

ps. If the JUST-software would also work, then I guess this could be quite an efficient way to buy the whole display-viewing booth-profiling software -continuum at once and be done with it without worrying about getting proper fixtures etc for Soluxes...

The adjust software supports the similar monitor range to basiccolor including NEC , the calibrated viewing booths come in 2 sizes and 2 voltages 110/220 - part numbers are different, installations I've done with eizo cg monitors and using eyeone spectrophometer with screen, print and light measurement options worked fantastically well. The test was done with a calibrated proof using the eye one and gmg software so although the complete system is a professional price it delivered the goods. there are a couple of just adjust software and viewing booths pdfs here.
