I'm a new Lightroom user (v 2.1) and after importing a couple of thousand images realized that I hadn't checked off the "date created" box.  I had assumed that this info was embedded in the .cr2 file. If so, there should be a way for LR to recognize this and make it a part of the metadata, but I can't figure out how.  Suggestions would be appreciated.
