I have indeed heard an approximate date for the new 35mm. When all goes well this time, it will probably appear in Q1 2009. Let's keep our fingers crossed that no further setbacks will pop up.

35mm AFD-Flektogon: there have been some serious problems with this lens. Without going into details, the outcome was that it had to be redesigned from scratch after an earlier prototype had existed. The new design is now finished and F&H are eagerly waiting for the elements to arrive in order to be able to place them in the barrel. The design now consists out of 11 lenses in 8 groups of glass with a very high breaking index. One aspherical element is part of the design too. The image circle will cover the full 6x6 surface. It is especially interesting that Jenoptik -who have no specific interest in film use- wanted this full coverage with good sharpness into the very corners. The earlier prototype had soft corners, but it would have been fine for use with 645 sensors only.

no way to calculate an unsymmetric 28mm for 6cm square size at reasonable costs.

This topic has been discussed over and over.
Like Rainer said,it would not be viable to make a 28mm lens  to cover 6x6.
I can't imagine people paying $10.000 USD or more for a lens.

The 28 HR Rodenstock already has a serious price tag.

Imagine a retro focus 28mm for the Hy6?

I've already been told that the 35mm AFD-Flektogon will be close to $10.000 AUD.
Especially with our current exchange rate.
3 months ago our dollar was almost equal to the US,it has since dropped 40%

Seems to me there is huge mileage in this topic of foreign exchange rates: it would obviously be quickly silenced as being non-photographic - which depends on if you are buying gear at the moment or not (if you can even find the money in the bank, or find the bank door!), but as a mild opinion, be happy if you are not on a pension being paid in pounds into a € area. It sucks bigtime and is getting worse by the day. I mentioned some month or so ago that I´d had to cancel the purchase of a modest car: private medicine has today gone the way of the dodo too. I await the future with interest - well, let´s just say concern, interest might seem optimistic in some financial way...

I'm kind of surprised the flektogon hasnt hit yet. Before the hy6 ever came out there was a brochure from rollei that had a bunch of lens specs for the later model lenses like the 110 zeiss. Within this brochure there was some info on a 35mm for the 6008. It was a non af lens and I assume it was the flektogon by name... Rollei also has a 30mm fisheye thats pretty rare, I think Eric Hiss has one.

I do think that once the flektogon does release it will draw even more people in the hy6 system. If I can dig that brochure Ill post a link, it was years ago it came out and 35mm was listed as coming soon...

ummm....Kyle, thanks for reminding me.   Better correct that to I hope to have one.  I have already paid the seller for it but not yet received it     Looking forward to it, and wondering how well this will work with de-fish software.  EPd, do you have any experiences with that?

EPd,
I did make it clear that the $10K price tag was just a guessing.
Like you said,it won't be cheap.

Thanks EPd,
I hope that the gentleman that I bought the fisheye lens from can locate it and that I have a chance to try it out.  I had a lot of fun making images with the perspective of the fisheye on crop frame canon cameras and I think the 30 might be similar on my 6008 with p20 back.

Hi Eric, in the past I used PanoTools for this with great results, but it was 8 bits only. The UI was very difficult to use although extremely versatile. There are several other tools now that work really well, but I do not need them often. Fisheye-Hemi is a nice plugin-tool too, with special properties.
