I'll go again on Saturday, and take some more snaps.

I was disappointed PocketWizard did not unveil low-profile units
to compete with the almost two years old Elinchrom Skyports.

The Hensel Lithium battery flash system will get more versatile by mid-2009 or so with an AC adapter.
Should retain 1200ws recycling at 2 seconds.
Latest news at http://robgalbraith.com/bins/content_page....cid=7-9317-9704
PDF at http://www.hensel.eu/fileadmin/Kataloge_20...NEWS_E_2008.pdf

Dyna-lite has a further refinement of their 500ws & 1000ws power packs,
now named Road and RoadMax series.
Both now have a phono jack sync connector.
RoadMax has additional PoketWizard built in.

I handled the smooth, curvy, dense Leica S2 briefly.
Bright viewfinder, terrific OLED readout, quick AF, quiet dampened mirror action (reminded me of Pentax645, but softer!).
Only the 70mm was working, but the other lenses were under glass [case].
The 120mm macro is nicely compact for being 1+ stop faster than other 120mm macro lenses on the market today.

Rightly so, there's been a lot of interest in the Screen-Shades.
I was told they'd be available after the start of 2009,
and priced $200-$250 depending on the size
(they're considering for range of iMacs & Cinema displays).

Here's a snap with the bellows extended:

Impressive LCD of Sinar eSprit65 is same spec as Nikon D3/D700 and Canon 5DII with 900K+ pixels.
Menus and image rotate according to orientation of digital back as shown:

Can you give us a hands on review? where you able to handle the camera? look through menus, live view, tethered capture etc?

Cheers

I loved the demos at Vertus, makers of Fluid Mask, and NIK, makers of Color Efex Photo 3 and Viveza. Their booths were across the isle from each other. I already own all 3 PS plug-ins so it was very relevant and informative.

I got to play with the new Leica D-LUX4 digicam at the Leica booth. Afterwards I walked over to the B&H Photo order taking booth and ordered a black version of the Panasonic equivalent, the Lumix DMC-LX3, after speaking to the B&H rep. He owns the LX3 and he said that nobody can justify the $400 additional cost for the Leica label on the same camera. After reading Michael Reichmann's review on LL, I too was convinced that the Leica marketing hype about using a different color processing engine was not worth the money.

Also, the petite model with long brunette hair at the Canon booth was extremely hot!

Cheers.

The iMac / Screen-Shades combo is pretty neat. They are easy to collapse and takes up nearly no space when stored. What I would like to see, is a new Apple 30' HD (Red One resolution), LED Cinema display with the Screen-Shades solution.

Also, I had the pleasure to meet Larry from Versa-Flex. Extremely nice guy and the absolute ruler of custom made equipment bags as well as cargo cases. We have used his cases for many years and so has the film industry. Best quality. All made in the USA.

Red Rock Micro presented this gizmo for the new Canon 5D mark II. We have just purchased two of the new 5D mark IIs and I'm excited to see how they will hold up to video commercials standards.  www.redrockmicro.com

Sorry for the lousy phone-camera pictures, I thought they were gonna hand out free cameras at the Expo

eSprit 65 firmware wasn't finalized, nor was it tethered to a computer, so I can not "review".
New version of eXposure software also expected soon.

However, I've borrowed the Hy6/AFi several times, and like its handling very much.

Thanks for posting your pics from the show, Esben.
Anyone else find good stuff?

These items were shown to me by Ray at the Direct Source Marketing booth.

This view camera adapter for DSLR will get more interesting IF they offer an adapter to mount a digital back directly:
[attachment=9218:Horseman2.jpg]

Very compact, and offers geared swing and shift for Mamiya 645 lens with DSLR:

I think that's a View Camera Converter. It's been around for a long time:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1490..._Converter.html
This is not on the Horseman site any more. There is also the Horseman LD, built on the L series cameras.
Both the VCC and the LD won't accept lenses shorter than 90mm, and have no back movements. At that price, I think a used Sinar P or Cambo Ultima would be a better deal. They have one for digital backs as well, called the LDPro. I'm not sure if the L standards would be strong enough to hold a back. That's one reason Linhof came up with the M679 as the digital equivalent of the Technikardan.

If you want something like the VCC, look for a used 6x9 Linhof Technika. Much cheaper, and more flexible. The Chinese digital back adapters on eBay are quite decent.

Cheers,
Kumar

Profoto was showing off the new Pro-8s in their booth.  They are blazing fast and have some great features.  They are recycle twice as fast as Pro 7s and can also off up to 50% faster flash duration over the 7 series.

After meeting Jacques and Claude Bron, I can see why they are so highly respected by users and dealers.
Their new Scoro power packs are unmatched.

I look forward to using both Profoto's Air and Broncolor's Scoro in the rental studios.

For me, the prices on the new flash generators seems to have gotten up into a range that's hard to fathom.   Yes they are faster, with more features, but I keep thinking that the costs should be going down not up on electronic goods that have the same main components and function for years and years.

i could not agree more...i understand that a product like the new hensel porty is more expensive because of its use of lith-ion batteries which is a real step forward, an actual solution to an actual problem: weight, performance and quick recharge of portable power.....these new packs look really promising and still at a reasonable price....

thise new profotos and broncolor packs look great and i am sure some people might actually need some of the features but for the vast majority of shooters they just don't offer anything interesting and i can't wait to see the prices....

i mean broncolor has promised colorconsistency for decades now and i guess these new packs are even more consistent? (so the old ones actually weren't?) i have never seen a problem with any system unless you shoot too fast at full power.....

i used to own all broncolor and still check in on their new products (the versos looked amazing) but the cost is just prohibitive....they just had (still have?) a 40% off deal and a kit is still more and offers less then others....

Now that more digital backs will be able to capture around 1 fps
the difference is these upcoming power packs will keep up.

I don't expect to own them, either, at $10K+
but I'm sure they'll be in the rental studios.
