Tethered shooting...4 x 3 crop ratio lines automatically?
« on: October 17, 2008, 11:46:11 am »

Hi,
I am trying out lightroom 2 for tethered shooting on a Mac with a 5d using canon utility as capture programme.

What I want from my tethered programme is to be able to view images on screen, with the histogram, and with a grid (two thirds, etc) and also a crop overlay of the 4:3 ratio.

DPP almost does that but does not allow for the 4:3 ratio/crop to be applied easily to each image and moved around the image.

Lightroom does all of these things in the develop module really well but....I can not get the 4 x 3 crop to show up automatically.
(A shame it can not show the grid and crop ratio in the library module as this is a bit quicker in showing images.)

Once the first image is shot, and I press R to go to develop module and automatically show the grid I pre choose, I then choose the 4 x 3 crop lines which is great.

I can then press S and this applies the same crop (4 x 3) to each new image but only if a previous image in that shoot has been applied with it which is fair enough. For each new shot then S applies the crop. Great.

However, if I then say look at any other previous image from the thumbnails (grid) or move location, turn off camera, get shooting again, the S no longer works and I then need to apply the 4x3 to the first of the new shots and can then again press S to apply the crop to each further image.

Is there any way to apply the ratio I want, say 4 x 3 to each incoming image automatically?
I have searched but can not find an answer.

Thanks.
