Z3100 and Lightroom
« on: October 11, 2008, 12:12:32 pm »

Well I finally took the plunge and I received my Z3100 yesterday.
I spent the first 2 hours downloading the newest firmware, and newest drivers.
I would like to print from Adobe Lightroom Version 2.
Does anyone have any links to settings for printing from Lightroom using this printer, so I don't double profile?
Any tips?
Do you let the printer manage colors, or Lightroom?
Also can you print 16Bit with this driver, is it supported?
Thanks
Gary G.

Hey Gary,

Good to hear you got the printer into your place!

I don't print from Lightroom, but I do from PS. I always colour manage from PS, never from the printer (although I think the dedicated B&W mode only works if you let the printer colour manage).

Did you get the new rollers and star wheel assembly? You should check out the Z3100 wiki if you haven't, some good info there: http://z3100users.wikispaces.com/

Good luck and let me know if you need any help.

Cheers,
Ron

Ron,
I got it. I've been making profiles, and I'm just starting to print. Looks like 16 Bit works in Lightroom, but it takes longer to print. This is a big honking machine, we ended up un crating in my back yard, and going in through the basement. We did scratch the top a bit. Just barely made it in.
So far I've not seen any roller marks on either glossy or matte media.
It looks to me like the older assembly is in the machine, and from what I've read, HP will not replace unless you actually show them proof of wheel marks on your prints. I'll keep you posted on this one.
Have a great weekend, I know what I'm going to be doing.
Gary
