Mamiya 645 - Hasselblad Lens Adapter - anyone here using this?
« on: October 10, 2008, 07:57:59 pm »

Anyone here have this or use it?

Seems like a good idea. Besides the loss of af and lens info on the file, what other problems are there?

Manual aperture so you have to use stop-down metering, like in case of old m645 lenses on af bodies.

I can't comment from actual use, but I know many people happen to really like the Hassy 110 f/2 for use on the AFD. I bet if you search here and GetDPI, you'll find many comments.

I do not use hassy lenses, I have an M645 set.
Regarding the hassy ones — I know some people who use 150/4 as a portrait lens instead of a mamiya one. They say, that it is indecently to compare them, they keep mamiya lenses on the shelf and zeiss under the pillow). But I have not seen good examples and comparisons... Especially I would like to get a comparison between hasselblad 150, mamiya 150 and CZJ 180 (penta6), as I am considering to get the last one.

well, for the longer lenses i can see going to zeiss
i've been fine with the normal - wide 645 lenses (55 and 45) but was wondering if the hasselblad lenses would perform better

I suggest you guys look into the new Mamiya 150mm AF D Sekor. This lens is amazing. Guy over at GetDPI has posted some test shots with it. I have recently been shooting with it as well, and can post some samples/crops if interested.

It's not been released yet, nor any pricing info. But you can catch a shot of it on Mamiya's site along with the press release.

I have the adapter that came with my Phaseone 645,  I initially thought that it would mean I could use my Hasselblad lenses until I replace them with Mamiya AF versions.   But in practice, I'd prefer to use full af lenses rather than manually stop down the blad version, so all my cf and cfi lenses are now gathering dust until I decide to sell.

The quality is the same as the blad lenses.  Also the mamiya lenses are so inexpensive compared to hasselblad.

The old 150 Mamiya is actually pretty sharp . But I'm starting to think that ditching the whole Mamiya system for Contax makes sense. I've used the H 110/2 on my P45+, with an ebay adapter and have no issues. You guys know me - my having no issues is a rare recommendation

Indeed it is!  But as good as the "old" Mamiya 150 is, especially for the money,  the new one is truly a leg up optically --- and of course 2 legs up on build quality.  It is also a lot larger physically, the only real downside --- that is other than cost

I use a cheapie version of the adapter with a Hassy 110/f2 FE lens on my Mamiya, and it works great.

I have an adapter to play with but haven't had my hands on the 110 f2.

I did try the normal 80mm Hassleblad lens but actually found that the Mamiya glass was its equal, slightly different looking  but hard to tell apart.

I'd still like to try the 110 f2, but generally the Mamiya lenses do the job. On the one occasion I had a comparison with a prime Contax lens at about 55mm it blew away my 55-110 zoom, but thats not a digitally optimised lens.

A lot of time can be wasted mucking around with adapters, at least it stops me making yet more damn photos.

I have the HB adaptor and use it on the 'Phase One' body. I can attest to the quality of the build of the adaptor - it should be good given the price they ask for it! I recently purchased an F version of the 110 from a forum member and have used that as well as my CFi120 Makro - in both cases I am happy to be able to use these superb lenses on a focal plane 645 body. A pity Hasselblad does not make a focal plane body to which we could attach a Hasselblad back or any other back and use this type of glass - hence the common place use of Contax or Mamiya as 'mules' with adapters for these types of lenses

Cheers

I have been using this adpater in a few test demos last week. In all cases with either P25+ and P45+. It is built very well. Disconnects from the body and lens very easy. First I was using it for 40mm and 50mm distagons. Very clean and sharp. Then I used it on a close up application. It was very good. Almost as good as the Mamiya 120 D Macro. If you can work around the aperature not being wide open all the time, I think it is very usable in many applications.

And it is free if you buy Phase One P Plus with Phase One 645 camera body and 3 Year Value Aded Warranty.

Have a dealer show you one today.

I tried two copies of the 50 FE with it and found my Mamiya 55AF was a lot better IQ wise; sharper and better contrast.  A friend has the 40 and it was marginally better than the Mamiya 35, but not as good as the Mamiya 45 -- so a great option if you really like the tweener 40 FoV.  Factor in you have to use the Hassy glass stopped down and manual focus and it was a no-brainer decision for me though, I stuck with the 35/55 Mamiya pair instead.

So for my money, the only Hassy lens that makes sense for me is the 110 f2, which has no equal in MF land.  Of course if you already have a complete set of Hassy lenses, then for sure the adapter makes sense for all of them.

I really did not go to that meeting to test it that way . But after seeing the images from the 40mm and 50 mm lenses, if you already own them I would use them with the adapter. If you do not own the V lenses I would buy the Mamiya versions, 45mm and 55mm are good. new 45m D has not even been released as far as the price part numbers ect.

Obviously you will have the V lenses that will stop down manual and open to focus, so unless you want to shoot wide open.

The adpater allows this to happen and I am very please with it's sharpness on close up products as well as room shots and interiors.

will the 110 f2 (no shutter lens ) work with the p25 back?
do the c lenses (with shutters) work on the mamiya 645 afd.

have you tried this.  how is the adapter for the hassy to mamiya

the body that works with these lenses is the 2000 fcw or 203 205
