None of them fit.

Just to make sure I tried them out - the mounting clips are in different positions; The Hy6's are central and the Rollei's are towards the rear.

Kind regards, Carl

All I've found so far is that the manual focus Rollei/Zeiss/Schneider lenses fit and work perfectly.

I'm looking forward to getting the new cable release as I used them a lot with the 6000 series cameras.

A cable release was announced at Photokina.

What I've been doing until the cable release is available; is putting the Hy6 in mirror-up mode and using the self-timer which you can easily set to different timings. It works well in certain scenarios.

IIRC, the Rollei 6000 finders can be modified to fit the Hy6.

I asked this to Rollei in late may, this is what they answer june 2:

"thanks for your inquiy. We can modify your prism-finder for the Hy6 but at the moment
we are calculating the price. In general we can do it.

With kind regards
Dietmar Kanzer"

Time to ask again

It's important to realize there are two kinds of modifications possible for the 45 degree prism:

one to fit the Leaf AFI or Sinar Hy6 back,

the other to fit the Hy6 with a revolving Sinar back adapter.

In the second case, Sinar puts a notch in the prism base to clear the revolving back.

I don't know whether these modifications are yet available though I've asked.

Mitchell

I assume you meant "camera" here, not "back".

The Sinar prisms modified for the Sinar revolving back are available (I have one).

I confirm that the modified by Sinar 45° prism finder to accommodate the revolving adapter is available since a few months now.

Thierry

Thanks Brad. I did, of course, mean "camera." !:^)

But, on current availability, I was talking about getting a 6008 45 degree prism modified to fit the AFI/Hy6. because it seems like the OP was interested in using a 6008 prism.

I, myself, have a 6008 prism which I want to use on the Hy6 I plan to buy. The prism is the same as the Hy6, but it's base needs to be replaced to fit the Hy6. As far as I know, Sinar is not doing this modification yet nor have they set a price on it. I'd like to hear if this is incorrect.

Mitchell

That is correct, Mitchell: no plan yet from Sinar to offer the 6008 45° prism finder modified to allow the functioning of the revolving adapter.

Best regards,
Thierry

Thanks Theirry,

I always appreciate your informative input, and regret the occasional silliness you gracefully rise above.

Two more questions:

Is Sinar eventually going to offer modification to the 6000 45 degree prism to allow it to work on the Hy6, revolving or not revolving?

Is there going to be a firmware update that will allow 1/1000 on the Hy6 with the 90 mm macro ? When?

I need 1/1000 with a "normal" lens and I have the 90 mm. I need to know the answer before I buy a Hy6 65.

Best,

Mitchell

You could try contacting F&H. I thought someone posted a while ago that F&H would offer this service.

Mitchell, an 80mm PQS lens is not hard to find, and not expensive. If the firmware upgrade is not coming soon, I would just buy one of these lenses and sell it again, getting most of your money back. Pretty painless.

Thanks Graham,

I'll look into the F + H solution, but I don't think they offer one that works with the Sinar revolving adaptor.

I resist getting the 80 PQS because I already have an 80 mm EL, but what you say makes sense.

That's true but I imagine that you can rotate the finder to one side, then rotate the back, and rotate the finder back. That way the back never comes off. It's not as good as the real thing but might be a bit cheaper. Perhaps someone with a Hy6, rotating Sinar adapter and 45 finder can confirm this works?

Then you just need to pay the difference as you upgrade to the PQS

Thanks Graham. Very informative as usual.

I forgot you can rotate the finder. Much better than taking the back off!

Mitchell this is not a firmware update but if your 90mm lens is a PQS one, you can send it to F&H and have it modified so it'll reach 1/1000.
