sony 828 vs rebel xt

Well, my 2 cents is to go with the Rebel.  I really have a problem framing with the P&Ss - the viewfinders aren't all that accurate and the lcd's aren't very visible in bright light.  I've only looked at a couple of EVFs - and am not impressed with them either.   You might miss the movie mode.

As I recall Michael did a 8 mpx P&S "shoot out" - try a search of this site.

You'll have more options lens/fl wise with the Rebel (both a:

plus - range of options plus they will migrate (more or less) as you upgrade bodies and

minus - cost, more stuff to carry, not as easy to get the same 28-200 equivalent coverage)

and less noise.

I think the dust issue is blown out of proportion, but at some point you'll have to deal with it.

Looking to buy 8 mp camera. Used to have sony f717 but reading the reviews of 828 maybe i want to jump to canon rebel XT. The cost is a little more but worth it? i'll use for everyday maybe sports also city lights like vegas. Any advice?
