Chris, over at the phase one forums, which are ridiculous, they are saying that at Photokina there was a booth where they showed the new Pro 4.5 program.
If this is so, why did  nobody mention anything about.
My feelings are either.
1. The program was/is not worth talking about.
2. Most have given up on C-1 program and moved on to lightroom or others.
3.Too many bugs still

Also why doesn't anybody from Phase give an explanation as to why their promised program well over a year ago maybe even 2 years ago has never made it.
Did they try an change everything when Lightroom and aperture were introduced, and if so why don't they let people know anything?
It really is THE most frustrating thing about Phase.
Wouldn't it be better to say we don't know what we 're doing but we are getting it under control please bare with us or something.
Their Public relatons have to be the worst of all.

Must be frustrating also for you all who are dealers. Have you been trying 4.5 pro.
Are they going to just release it and let us be the beta tester basically like all the other major releases?

Phase seems to talk a lot of BS. just saying they will have all kinds of things, but never actually following through with them, in a decent time frame atleast.

Why haven't there been any leaks as to anything good or bad about the new software. it is just all silent.
Pretty disappointing don't you think.
You think they have a solid program that will come out the 15th?
It really seems like no body even cares anymore and have given up on anything phase one says now a days.

PS. I just noticed that under the program icon *which looks to be the same 4.1.2, it says the Best tethered etc program... How can it be the best if it is not even on the market yet.
I also noticed they changed the P65 propaganda to, best resolution, and not the only FF sensor at 59 megapixels...:+}

There is nothing to say than that it's finally there and waiting is over.

Take V4.1 as basis and add the following features:
- user programmable keyboard
- user programmable quick tab (I think some of the tools are user programmable not only the quick tab)
- free floating tools (didn't try it)
- dual display support
- refined color editor
- refined color tools
- multiple output (as in V3x)
- proof profiling  (as in V3x)
- lens correction including distortion correction

... and maybe something more I didn't see or don't remember anymore.

So this is V4 with the extended tools and workflow options you basically know from V3x.
Strictly new is user programmable keyboard and tools (which is great I think).

Thank you,
That is the first I have heard  of the new software.
Did you get that from Photokina?
Does is seem stable. Any news if the focus/checking is the same as in 4.1.2?
were they or have you shot with it tethered yet?
Thanks for the information. Just thought it was strange how there is very little information and sems to be very little interest by others
Thanks

I played around a little bit with the software and actually read the menu entries. The booth was very crowded so I just spent about 10 or 15 Minutes with the software.

Hard to say. The computers had only a few images loaded so no heavy test possible.
Programming the keyboard crashed the software because of Beta status.

There's a separate window (and I think it is programmable, too) - so you can have both the previews at viewing size "to fit" and zoom in 100% in your focus window. I think that's fine. Actually similar to the focus window in V3 but now you can detach it.

They were shooting thethered with the P65+ and V4 pro (at least on one computer).
I wouldn't worry about performance and speed as V4.1 now is really fast and stable.
There may be some bugs, as always and everywhere, but I don't think they are going to ship it if the main functions are not stable.
But you never know...

Since V4.1 lens correction for your lenses is there. So you can try it now.
This is correction of chromatic aberration.
Distortion correction (pro only) is a rudimentary tool to correct less complex distortions (by now)... so not really spectacular.

I'm in Miami from the 12-19th so maybe I'll drop by.
I saw the software on the photokina and see no reason to switch, but it's always nice to meet some people in those meetings

Hope they've added the cache back in, it's soooo annoying waiting to render the thumbnails every time!

Thanks tho_mas!
This is to my knowledge not what phase has been communicating!? Will the P65+ work on my H2 and will this primitive distortion tool then work with all my H lenses?
Or will I need to purchase the phase camera with Mamiya lenses??

As far as I know the P65+ continues to support the same plattforms as the other P-backs... but I'm not sure about that:
Quote
Models of P+ back
Phase One H101: Hasselblad H1 and H2
Hasselblad V: Hasselblad 555ELD, 533ELX, 503CW and 501CM
Mamiya RB67 and RZ67 Pro II
Mamiya 645: Mamiya 645AFD, 645AFDII, RZ67 Pro IID
Contax 645: Contax 645AF
The distortion tool works for all cameras/lenses I think.
We'll know it next week...

Frank thanks for stopping by the office last week. It was great to put a face with the name.
Hope you found some other places to shoot that we discussed.
Have a safe trip back.
