HD image quality vs. DSLR image quality
« on: October 06, 2008, 12:32:07 pm »

Please be patient with my ignorance...what accounts for the image quality difference between a HD video camera and a DSLR like, say, the Canon 1Ds Mark III? I read the latest article Michael posted regarding the Red One and the best still image only being 10x5. Is it my imagination, or is the HD image so dramatically better than the DSLR?

Again, sorry if I maynot be getting this right...

The resolution is hugely different betwen HD + a high end DSLR.
The Canon 1DsIII is 10 times the resolution, so your imagination has certainly been at work.
HD  1080 is         1920 x 1080px = 2.0736 MP
Canon 1DsIII is   5632 x 3750px = 21.12 MP
