Okay..... I will bite. Why do you want to change your name? You are still the same person as before? Is there a nefarious reason for this? Are you wanting all of your posts to have a different name? Common sense should tell you this isn't possible or desirable.

My original username was an old nickname which I'm no longer called. What's the problem with wanting to change my name, which has incidentally now been changed?

For our non-American friends:  Ocho-Cinco refers to an American football player named Chad Johnson, of the Cincinatti Bengals.  He wears jersey number 85, and refers to himself as Ocho-Cinco.  He's had his last name legally changed to Ocho-Cinco, and wants that as his name on his jersey.  Currently, the National Football League has rejected him and he still has "Johnson" on his jersey.

Actually I believe Rebok rejected the name change.  Unless he buys up all existing stock of Chad Johnson jerseys he cannot change his name this year.

All you need to do is register under a different name and e mail. I am sure there are a lot of posters with different names that post and even reply to themselves. If you were to get a different name the old "poster" would cease to exist? Your request - when you think about it - is rather silly

Probably is silly but it's what I decided to do at the time. My background is dealing with employee accounts and amending usernames rather than starting new ones so it's kind of built into me to do things in that fashion.

In any case my username has been changed and I'm sure people have better things to read about and do rather than comment on one person's "silly" request.

One might want their posting history available under the name they are currently using.
