Ian what is attached to that grip arm to hold the ringflash on? I assume it has a 3/8 mount on the receiving end? Any help is appreciated I could use one. I dont know why profoto didnt use a 5/8 receiver for these heads....

Haha. Only in this forum would the first comment after that photo be about the mounting hardware of the ringflash ;-)

Some really impressive studios all.

That is a funny!

But anyway, I don't have any recollection. My lighting assistant set it up and we have been doing it for a number of shoots since. I will send him an e-mail and see if he recalls.

I asked my lighting asst how he set it up and he says...

"I used a 3” Spud with a 3/8”/16 stud on it."

The Balcony above my studio on a recent shoot.  I am hoping the studio off the Balcony will be mine soon as the tenant is thinking about giving it up, cross your fingers.

I haven't finished putting the final touches on our studio, but the main room (25 x 30) is functional and you can get a basic idea of the room. There is an attached dressing room and a second floor studio with a full bathroom that is not yet finished yet.

The full office space is a little over 10k sq feet with a full kitchen and a 2800 sq ft mezzanine. The studio is located in the top left corner of the 3D model.

Question for you guys:

I remember most studios I have seen to either have matte black or neutral grey walls and floors.  It seems the studios shown here are mostly painted white.  Is there a reason to use white these days?

When I moved into my studio it was owned by a product photographer and he had it all painted Black.. Look like an Old cave.. Pretty depressing.
I painted the whole studio white and like it. Looks cleaner, You can bounce light if need off walls and ceilings. It is hard to cut back light, but I have lot's of Black Fabric and Foam core for that.
I am guessing car and product guys would prefer Black and Fashion/Portrait White...
Most Big Cyclos (Also used by the car shooters) are white ( some green now a days also for green/blue screening) for obvious reasons...

That would be my reasoning....

Black gets very depressing very fast, particularly if you are working in a smaller studio space.

Its generally easy enough to flag or curtain off reflections if needed and the lighter environment is a lot more inviting and pleasant to work in.
