One additional thought is that using high ISO with ETTR (Expose To The Right) is like using lower ISO without ETTR.

On Canon DSLRs an ETTR at high ISO is much better than using a lower ISO at the same shutter speed. However, I believe this is not always the case with some MFDBs and P&S cameras.
