Okay so how much difference is there between the older style and newer style besides the word parbolic and $6000?

Old
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/2641..._Reflector.html
New
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/5849...c_Umbrella.html

the old one is shaped more like a cheap beach umbrella, it hasnt got the parabolic shape. the new one does, so reflects the light in a far more efficient way depending on where the head goes.

not sure why it is $6000 higher in price though. crap really.

I've got the older 7ft version and it sure looks close to parabolic when set up and it has the same focusing post for the lights.   Honestly I don't use it a lot - it takes up a ton of real estate in the studio, and I like shadows.   I do have a home made aluminum parabolic dish that's about 3 feet in diameter that I use a lot.

Hi

I live 15 mins away from Broncolor headquarter in Switzerland.
I asked them 2 days ago about the availability of the new stuff.
They told me it could take 2-3 month till they ramped up the production.
They delivered many new scoros. But that was mainly for the pro shops and starphotographers like Klinko etc.

The new scoros are killer. I tested them in the showroom. It's the best lightpack I've ever seen. Maybe the new profoto stuff will also be in that league.

Prices are in the 8000 swiss francs range. That's around 6500 dollars.

Hope I could help.

Tim

yeah, the price of the new scorio packs (they are a lot cheaper than the pro-8 in new zealand) and the amount of grafits and heads on the market, ive just made the move to broncolor. so far im really impressed. i also changed systems because there is no rental profoto in new zealand, but lots of bron.

anyone looking for profoto gear? ive got some for sale.

I had a chance to use the Scoro A4s this past Sunday
powering a Ringflash P into a Para 170.

Full power recycle felt like one second,
compared to 3 seconds with a Grafit A4

I like the light out of their new beauty dish reflector (white interior), too.

hi Billy,

I had this chance too, 3 weeks ago, using it a 1/8000 to freeze some movements. Pretty impressive.

Best regards,
Thierry

I don't think you'll regret it. I like both Profoto and Broncolor.

Since I shoot studio, Broncolor was an obvious choice.
I have had zero problems over 15 years. The Grafits are great, the new Scoro ?? is that much better.
As soon as the economy turns around I'll have at least one to become the primary pack.
The only thing Broncolor should do is improve their fix on the Lightbars to the same as Profoto or Hensel.

is there any info or graph that shows what power is at what duration? my grafits need to be very low power to make the most of the quick duration. it wont be much use if the scorios if they have 8000th sec if they are only 100ws!  you would need 6 packs to light anything.

this link has a graph for the new pro-8 packs, it would be nice to see the equivelent one for the scorios. * note, profoto uses a different criteria to measure duration than bron, but they are claiming the same fastest duration now for both brands.

Lithium-polymer-battery-powered power packs? Smaller Pocketwizards that lie flat? I am just guessing.

the d1 look nice though i they seem to have lost the one big advantage of profoto heads and compacts, the exposed bulb/pyrex dome. this makes them so unbelievable versatile. i don't see how one could zoom the d1's effectively
