This could be a big game changer for the industry. While Canon certainly can't be too enthusiastic about this, I can see some fantastic new developments come from open source DSLR work. I've always wanted TIFF in my camera. I've always wanted to change the behavior of bracketing so that I can do two exposures instead of three.
Oh the possibilities boggle the mind.
