Does Flexcolor 4.8.6 in Leopard support the older Imacon Photo scanner?  Not sure if the client has it running via FW or SCSI...

You mean 'Imacon' photo scanner, not 'epson', right? As far as I remember this scanner is SCSI, the 343 is the repackaged  FW version of this scanner and is supported with Flexcolor.

crap, yes.  I've lost my mind. It's the older Imacon Photo, and yes, it is SCSI.  Not sure if the card/scanner combo is also supported...

Think you'll need either a SCSI card or a Ratoc SCSI/Firewire converter. I have a Precision II which I am just about to hook up to a Mac Pro. imaconusers on yahoo groups is place to look. Current version of Flexcolor won't work, you need to dig in the archives as seen in this response from Ratoc when I enquired.

Here is the information for Imacon scanner with the FR1SX.
According to our record, it works with FlexColor 4.0.x on MacOS X.
But the FR1SX needs to be changed the firmware to version 1.23 for the FlexColor software. The firmware and the utility will come with the FR1SX CD-ROM. You can download it from our web site, too.

[How to change firmware data]
Please follow the instructions below.

1. Double click "FR1 Utility" icon to launch the FR1 Utility.
2. Click "Enable FR1 Utility" button. The system will be restarted by the utility automatically.
3. Double click "FR1 Utility" icon again to launch the FR1 Utility.
4. Click "select firmware data" button to browse firmware data.
5. The firmware data named FR0123.BIN is located at "old firm" folder.
6. Click "Start firmware update" button. Confirm "Firmware Rev" number is changed to 1.23.
7. Click "Disable FR1 Utility" button. The system will be restarted by the utility automatically.

Please don't forget to disable the FR1 Utility after changing the settings. If the utility is enabled, all firewire devices are not recognized by the systems temporarily. If you would like us to change the firmware before shipping, please visit our direct online shop at http://firewireshop.stores.yahoo.net/firfirscsico.html. And please put "Need 1.23 firmware for Imacon" in comment box, when you place an order.

According to Imacon tech support, the new FlexColor software versions (starting from 4.5) does not support older SCSI models, such as the FlexFrame camera backs or Flextight Precision
scanners. For the FlexFrame and the Flextight, please use FlexColor 4.0.x.

Also, an optional AC adapter is needed.
Here is the spec of the AC adapter.

 'Positive Tip polarity'(center "+", external "-"),
 4.0 x 1.7 mm Tip and DC 5V / 2A

You can order it from our online shop, too.
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/firewireshop/acadforfir1.html

Please check the SCSI connector type, too.
The FR1SX has a high density 50 pin connector.

If the connector type is different, you need another adapter.
