New Phase One P+ Firmware Update
« Reply #1 on: September 15, 2008, 05:04:43 pm »

Thanks for the link.

Have just updated the P45+ on my computer running Vista 32 without any problems.

I will check out the promised "overall improved image quality at long exposures" as well as "general image artifact improved on some digital backs".
Haven't had many problems concerning those subjects so far, though, anyways.

I do the tech support for our many many customers and very rarely come across such image artifacts. It would be very difficult for any one person to assess the improvement from "very rarely" to "extremely rarely". Really only P1 Tech Support, and dedicated Dealer Tech Support folks like I who interact with hundreds of backs/users will have a chance to see this decrease in action (hopefully the drop will be from one case every few months to only a case or two a year).

We would love to hear your results shooting long exposures though. Be sure to record the ambient temperature when you take your shots since they has a huge influence on noise and maximum exposure. We'll be running our own tests in a few weeks and comparing them to previous long exposure tests. According to P1 the most noticeable impact will be for P21+ users. Other backs will see an improvement, but not as significant.

Hello Chris,
Hello Doug,

I want to upgrade my p45+ firmware, in order to try a schneider usb shutter control for a view camera.
I've noticed that the firmware upgrade from phaseone.com lead to, well,  nothing.

Any workaround?

Thanks in advance
C.

Scroll down about halfway. For some there is a problem with the update and it appears to have been pulled.

Thanks, Dale

Yes, I've noticed there might be a problem for a "small batch of camera backs", but otherwise I cannot try the usb shutter system.
I'll take a chance on a phase support case, then.
