Is there anyone who have used a thinkpad W700?

According to Rob Galbraith DPI, macbook pro's gamut is quite smaller than srgb, which(srgb) is roughly 70% of Adobe rgb(see below links).

http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/content_p...cid=7-8741-9027

http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials...dobeRGB1998.htm

And according to eizo's pruduct information, CG19's gamut is 75% AdobeRGB.

http://www.eizo.com/products/graphics/cg19/spec.asp

So just by figures, it appears that w700's gamut is on par with a Eizo CG19(oh my..)!! And should be better than a macbook pro(am I wrong?), let alone the 400nit Brightness which will be quite useful when on location(macbook pro is 300nit).

So anyone here have really tried this little beast? If it performs the same way it claims, then it should be a really good gift for photographers(of course non-delicated mac users).

FYI w700 also has a built in Pantone x-rite huey Calibrator, and a 12.8cm*8cm wacom tablet.

When I bought a Dell for tethered use of the 1ds3, we looked at the W700 and did the custom configuration thing and it quickly got to nearly $6,000.  In comparison the Dell was half that prcie and close to the same configuration.

Since I know zero about PC's and won't move to a PC workflow it just was too much for a capture only machine, though the features are trick.

I am actually surprised that Apple doesn't offer some type of pro version powerbook that has the same features as the w700.

it will,  and no doubt claim its a 'world first'

apparently the next generation (Apple) are all LED notebooks, so expect some near full ARGB palettes.

otherwise Thinkpads are excellent machines with the latest processors and customisation options at prices that would be 30% more if it had a fruit on the front.

I really really really want this machine in a 15.4" or sub screen.
I NEED a quadcore laptop, but 17" won't fit in my camera bag.

W500

That is the one I am keeping eyes on... SSD sounds like nice option + SATA drive in place of DVD unit...

Add a hi-rez screen and 4g ram and 7200 raid0 and wacom+huey then it's enough for a photographer's use. SSD,blueray, quad core these three are so low at performance/price now, and I don't think it's crucial for a photographer. So plus a 3 years' warranty it's a $4,000 mobile work station, sounds pretty good.(A hi-rez macbook pro 17" with apple care is $3,500)

I am still finger crossed for a upcoming new macbook pro, with calibrator and wacom, these 2 are just so cool for a long travel commission.

I already looked at that and the w500 is shipping now (I didn't think the w700 was shipping yet). the W500 doesn't come with a quad core or a wacomm.
for my next upgrade, I need
1) 4GB RAM (1066mhz+)
2) quadcore processor (2GHz+)

All of my image processing automation is in java, btw
