Sorry dumb question. When you stitch is the front moving or is it the back moving

horizontal - the back shift
vertical - it's your choice, it can do both...

Guy, just to be a little more clear.  Both the XY and the MAX can be mounted to the tripod in two ways.  The main body can be attached directly to the tripod via the 3/8" socket in the bottom, OR you can use the Stitching adapter to attach the front lens panel to the tripod.

Using the stitching adapter on either camera causes the lens to stay stationary when stitching up and down (The lens is always stationary with side to side stitches).  Without the stitching adapter the lens will move up and down during up and down stitching.

The Stitching adapter is included with the XY, it is not included with the MAX.
