battery drain is much greater when shooting film as the film back's motor uses the camera battery for power.

digital backs, with their own power supply, don't put a load on the body's battery. only the shutter/mirror requires power, so the battery life is much greater. i've shot for several days in cold, snowy conditions with only one camera battery while using several batteries for the sinar back.

Nope. That lens is for the 35mm Contax/Yashica cameras. It will not mount on the Contax 645--physically won't fit.

The only lenses I know about for the Contax 645 are:

35, 45, 55, 80, 120 macro, 140, 210, 350, and 45-90 zoom, along with 1.4x TC.

I'm sure someone will jump in if I've gotten this wrong.

I've heard that the Contax with a digital back will drop into a sleep mode after 30 seconds idle.  Thus requires a "wake up" touch.

Is this correct?
In my landscape work that could drive me nuts as I wait for the clouds to get just right, then press the shutter to find no response from the camera.

I don't have a DB yet, but if it's an issue, just put the camera in manual mode and feather the shutter. Also, why other with a DB at all? get a cheap DSLR with histograms and shoot film. That's what I'm doing now. from my scanner, I get insane resolutions.

Also, the 80mm is a great freaking lens, but if you are going to be doing landscapes, I would think you would want the 45mm (wideangle) and the 120mm (panos).
personally, I want the 35mm and the 120mm.
