As both pictures actually are collages I can only summarize: H3D 39 II, various lenses, Alpa TC, Schneider 24, Leaf 22

Certainly not the usual use for this gear, a fire department training exercise.

Mamiya 645AFDII, 105-210 lens, and a Phase One P30+ back.

Frank-
Both shots are interesting, but something about your first shot really stands out for me.  It is one of my favorite images from this thread and the one about everybody copying everybody else.  Perhaps I'm just a sucker for well executed surrealism, but I love the atmosphere and composition  The white figure with the splash invokes Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast for me (in a good way, OK?).  Thanks for posting it.

Hi,

Street photos, Firenze (Florence, Italy), hand held Med format. I basically stood in one place and snapped the people as they walked by.

Regards, Ivan

I am forever amazed at the quality of photos in the MFDB threads. I always want to comment on each but kind of feel that I should hold back.

Ivan,

Great street photos, so well done.

Frank,

Very moody on the first and very film looking, I like that. The second is not only a fun photo but also shows the difference a good model can make.

As for my fire photo, yes that was hot! I was not very far behind those guys and that was a fuel fire.

thanks Ian,

I made these last Aug, but it took me a while(worked on them for the first time last week) to notice and appreciate them. At first I simply didn't think they were any good at all. The nice thing about large and good quality files are that at 100% you see so much more detail that you just dont see initially at screen size!

Ivan,

Must ask, what camera/lens/back did you use to shoot these street images?
Assume tripod mounted?

They're great - lots of detail, DOF, just fun to study all that's going into the frame.

hi Jack,

Thanks! I purposefully omitted camera info from this topic( a bit self conscious because I only have a lowly mamiya!).  I do agree that these pics should actually be printer LARGE! for all the info and detail they have.

ZD camera with 35mm lens. Fstop was mostly 4.8 and shutter 1/90th. ISO 200. Handheld. Because of the camera size etc etc I held the camera to my eye and waited for the people to move into the frame. The result is lots of photos with people looking straight at the camera! Next time perhaps I will put it on a tripod and use the cable release. This particular morning I went for a walk with the camera and a few lenses in my pocket, but actually only used the 35mm, and I was quite surprised at the number of photos that looked ok. A bit of desaturation in LR and perspective and lens distortion correction in photoshop

Ive got some more ''street' photos at flickr.

Regards Ivan

Finally the weather was good enough to go to the beach, and what happens.....
The moment we're there the sun is gone, hummm did not drive there for nothing so we did the shoot with a little bit of a twist

With many thanks to Roosmarijn for traveling to me for this session.
