Oahu, Hawaii
« on: August 26, 2008, 01:40:09 pm »

The island of Oahu, nicknamed "The Gathering Place," offers the most attractions than any other Hawaiian island. World famous beaches, a vibrant nightlife, world class restaurants, outdoor activities, World War II history, etc. are all at your disposal.

Most people who visit here believe Oahu is Waikiki and Waikiki is Oahu. Oahu is an island of great diversity that it cannot be characterized by one area. When visiting Oahu renting a car is a must because the island has so much to offer, but what could I encounter in 36 hours? Come join me on my brief tour of "The Gathering Place."

I can't WAIT to go back!  10 days and barely scratched the surface.  Nice shots, takes me back!  I last stayed next to the International Marketplace you captured, at the Princess!  I have the same shot except from above

I would love to go back to Oahu and just spend at least two days at Pearl Harbor shooting B&W.

Cheers,

Sam

Enjoyed the pictures. Love Oahu, lived there as a kid in the 50's. A lot of people who have never been there sort of steer clear and go to the outer islands because all they think of is Waikiki and the hordes of tourists. It is really hard to get through to them that Oahu is so much more than that, my own daughter didn't even listen to me and is going to Maui later this month.

To me Oahu has the best of both worlds. If you want shopping and touristy stuff you can't beat Waikiki and if you want to get away from it all the rest of the island has a lot of secluded places.

Craig,

You're right about Oahu. It is the most diverse of all the islands to suit everybody's particular taste.
