If I win the $10K, I wouldn't mind having to buy another 1Ds...

Bruce -

Try here.

Keep in mind, the purchase must be made by Jan 31, 2004.  The winner will be announced "on/or around February 4".

So while you may be tricky and win the $1K monthly prize and then buy batteries, if you were to win the $10K then you must have already bought something.

I'd still take the $1000 monthly prize and then buy some batteries.

Jonathan -

Also keep in mind, they will withhold the taxes on the $10 - for prizes it's 50% withholding I think - so you may not get enough for that 1Ds.  But, you could donate the $$$ to me, and I'll worry about it!

Reading the fine print, Monster gets to use any photo submitted for any reason for, near as I can tell, as long as they want. Sounds like a good way to get a good Stock library to me.

Frankly the rules seem a little odd for an established company.

"All images submitted become property of Monster".

Since a purchase is required to participate, I'm not sure how legal this is in parts of the US.  Note that the company running the contest (Monster LLC) is based in Nevada, even though Monster corp HQ is ia California.  OTOH, since it is a judged event, not a random drawing, it probably is legal.

There is a $10,000 photo contest at www.monsterphoto.com

It is open to amatuers and at the present time does not have very many entries.

I helped out with the project and post this only as a FYI.

Not to enter. If you win the $10,000 all you have to do is go buy some batteries.

I couldn't find the rules of the contest anywhere. Like when it ends, what rights Moster Cable claims on winning photos, etc.

"Contest begins at 12:00:01 a.m. September 1, 2003, (U.S. Pacific Standard Time) and ends 11:59:59 p.m. January 31, 2003 (U.S. Pacific Standard Time). "

Sounds like they're doin' the time warp!   ???    Neat trick if you can do it.

Looks to me like only "contestant winners" agree to that clause.  I'll trade one of my images for $1K.
