man in chair- Hartblei 45mm ts- aptus 22

I have a 35mm t/s with a nikon mount.
is there just a contax adapter for the hartblei lenses?

it's really too bad that the hartblei factory was demolished. I haded their lenses at f/2.8. but when you stop them down to f/5.6 they get really good.

I like my Contax 645 glass. The camera operates similar to Nikon, but haven't digital screens and menus/settings, which is a really missed feature comparing to modern Nikon machines!

I considered Mamiya before I went to Contax, but I don't like the bulk and the fact that RZ glass is nothing exceptional. I believe Contax will be available on eBay for approx 10 years, which is a long enough to consider it as a good investment, for less money than H1/H2, by the way.

RZ lenses are exceptional.

correct me if I'm wrong, but RZ's don't AF, right?
I think if I were to spend the money, I would want so AF abilities.

No, they only cover slightly more then the 35mm frame.
You would need the 45mm superrotator but these are all in the hands from Phase one now.

the rz67 is manual focus camera, it uses a rail and bellows system to focus. Most people really like the feel of it, it can be awkward to handhold though.

RZ glass > Mamiya 645 glass > Contax glass.

I shoot exclusively with Rz/A75s WLF and just love it. I hand handle it for 10-14 hours days.
My hands may hurt a bit but not as much as my back and knees when I shoot with any prism 645.

Maybe not THAT hard:-)

Get one of the platforms, let's say the Contax, and then buy an ECO-Digital adapter (not exactly cheap though) so you can rent an RZ and try it...if it's nice you can always find a cheap RZ 2nd hand.

Good luck

The advise was to rent one to check it out :-) If it's fine than you can buy the one (1).
All I can advise is: take the camera you tend to in your hands and play around with it... and just ask yourself: is that what I want?
For me it was a 10 minutes decision. I had a more or less rough or concrete idea of what I was looking for (camera and lens wise) have read a lot and asked some people. For me at a certain point everything or the most things were leading towards the Contax 645.
Tried it. Bought it. Took me 10 days to get everything I wanted (lenses, accessoiries... well, to be honest: the waist level finder was a bit harder to find).
Maybe it's the same to you with the RZ? If you are fascinated (earenstly)... take it.
At a certain point... none can give you a real advise. Either you are keen about the camera... or not...

to answer my question, I found calumet in cambridge mass. I'm going to try to go call and maybe go down there. see about testing out a contax and a mamiya. Rental prices on them are probably high to the point that I should just buy a mamiya and a contax on ebay, play with them and re-sell the one I don't want. it would be about the same loss in $$ if not less.
