Phase batteries
« on: August 17, 2008, 10:53:55 am »

HI there, I know there have been many threads on the lower mAh batteries that can be bought on ebay. But I was wondering if anyone had used the bp-930G types?

I've found some on ebay that are 2500mAh, but they are rated at 7.4V not 7.2V.
Does anyone know what voltage phase batteries are, I can't check as my back won't be delivered until next week.

Will 7.4V be okay? Many thanks in advance.

Phase battery is 7.2 volts.  I wouldn't take the 7.4 volt gamble....

Alternate battery sources with lower mah ratings may be fine to use in studio, but when on location I prefer using the higher rating of the original Phase batteries.

I would not take the chance either, if you don't want to use the Phase one battery
Lenmar makes a 2000 mah battery at 7.2 volt that are very inexpensive, you can google to find our where to get them. I have been using them but am switching over to the P1 batteries.

I've used the Lenmar brand in studio without problems.  Picking up more Phase batteries for on location though.

Guy or Jack pointed these out from B&H on an earlier Phase battery thread:

At the risk of beating a dead horse I would strongly recommend the use of OEM batteries if for no other reason should something go wrong and you have a electrical problem at least no one can fault the battery.  Add to that the cost of a P1 battery is less that 1% of the cost of the back.  We insure our equipment paying 100’s of dollars every year and think nothing of it (well almost) then why should we even think twice about spending less that $100 for a proven one shot purchase?

Just my two cents….

Hi Don, I agree with the sentiments, but I struggled to get the money together for the phase back in the first place. I was just hoping that it would be possible to save a bit of money. Looks like I'll have to go with the lower capacity cells or OEM P1 cells.
