Note of Sinar to worldwide dealers: the end of the Sinar 54, because loss of availability of the chips.

No more possibility of 88Mpix files without stiching.

Very sad news!
The 22 mpx. was the right size for catalogue work.

I have one 54H multi-shot refurbished unit left at $18,000.

I don't have any of the 54M series remaining.

So what is sinar going to have at this price point???

Does this mean leaf is discontinuing its 22mp backs? Sinar was using  a dalsa chip right?

The Sinar 54 backs (Sinarback 54M, 54MC, 54S, 54H) used Kodak chips. The eMotion backs used Dalsa. The confusion is from Sinar renaming the eMotion 22 to the eMotion 54LV during the first Sinar board upgrade (around last November) which brought Live Video to the eMotion backs.

I asked my Hasselblad dealer whether this meant that the H3DII-22 will be discontinued soon (since it ought to affect them too) but they said they hadn't heard of any such thing. I guess it will be the case that they will just keep selling the H3DII-22 until such time as they run out of stock, then the H3DII-31 will become the entry-level H3D... and it already seems to be priced this way, except that the current H3DII-31 pricing is appears to be a limited time only offer... but until when?

Kodak discontinued the 22MP sensor which is also used by Hasselblad. Surely they have to end the 22MP life cycle as well.

The limited offer of the 31, I am not so sure whether they can up the prices later. The shit is out of the horse, no way to put it back. Probably it will become the entry level taking away the necessity to raise the prices later and avoiding upsetting people with much higher prices.

FYI: Sinar is still having the eMotion 54 LV with the 22 MPx Dalsa sensor, and there is no plan to discontinue it for the time being. It's price has been dropped a couple of months ago by about 40%: contact your local distributors for details.

Hasselblad announced that the H3DII 22mp was being discontinued a few weeks ago during their conference call announcing the 50mp back.   They told us that product was limited to stock on hand since the chip was discontinued.
