Sony Z1U HDV Video Camera
« on: August 08, 2008, 01:17:52 pm »

If you are starting out in HD Video - this is a great camera. I have used this one for a little over a year and it is only being replaced in order to use the yet-newer solid state EX3.

Read about this camera on B&H where is is still for sale new at $3800 on this page.

The Operation Time is 260 hours, Drum Run 130 hours, Tape Run 90 hours, Threading 150 hours. So, the use is relatively light.
There has never been any need of repair or service.
There are a few typical-wear topical scratches or marring on the lens hood and at the base plate area, but I would rate the camera conservatively as 'A' condition.
I have only run Panasonic AY-DVM63MQ tapes in the machine. I wouldn't say I have never had tape drop out on this camera, but I can honestly not remember any. I clean the heads for about 5 seconds approximately every 8-10 hours.
The serial # is 1112374.
There are 4 batteries + charger. 1 x NP-F970, 1 x NP-F950, 1 x NP-F770, 1 x NP-F570.
I have all the original bits & pieces that you can see on the B&H link above

I have both the Sony Z1U HDV and the EX3, one is tape and the other is memory disk, the Z1U is a great price, it is still a great camera. I have tested both cameras and there is very little difference between the 2 video cameras. The EX3 is sharper but you are talking to a person that shoots MFD.
