The Mamiya battery supplied with the ZD is in fact the same as the the Minolta NP400. I recently bought an Energizer NP400 battery for £15.00 and it works perfectly. Here in the UK the Mamiya battery would have cost me a staggering £110.00!!!!

This was discussed a few weeks back and it's good to hear from someone who has actually tried the NP400 and found it works. There is always an element of anxiety when not using the correctly labelled kit for the first time, and the dearer the camera that might start fizzing and smoking then the greater the stress.

ZD backs in my case but I believe they use the same battery.

I think it is a different battery. The ZD camera takes a BA 701. About two years ago I did some web searching on this battery & came up with the JVC- BPL13A & the Energizer ER C601. I have not tried them & have been happy with the two batteries I have.
