2 installs?

How many installs do you get with an upgrade to 2.0, and if I want to upgrade both my desktop and laptop, how do I do that with a download (as opposed to buying a disk?)

I think only 2 installs.  I downloaded to my main computer, installed --it asks for new serial number you are given--and automatically placed the serial number from my 1.0 install.  I did the same--just went back to 'My Account' on the Adobe page and browsed to the download page and downloaded directly to my laptop, typed in the new serial number, it inserted the old one again--and it all went well.

BTW--you will need to download the new Canon and Nikon camera profiles from the www.labs.adobe.com site and it will self install.

Diane:
Did you download the trial or pay for and actually download the "real thing?"

The reason I ask is that I ordered the LR2 disk, but when I inquired as to when it would ship, they are clueless.  So then I asked about canceling the order so I could do a download and was told that the download isn't available for purchase, yet, which sounds like a bunch of baloney.

Thanks,

Cynthia,  I bought the LR 2.0 'real thing' from their site the day it came out--this past week.  Go to [a href=\"https://store1.adobe.com/cfusion/store/flex/index.cfm?store=OLS-US&storeclient=flex&nr=0&distributionmethod=FULL&category=/Applications/Photoshop&view=ols_prod]https://store1.adobe.com/cfusion/store/flex...p&view=ols_prod[/url]  and buy the download.  I bought and dled and installed over 1.4x and it updated my catalogs (which go back to 2000 on external HDs) all without any problem.  I then (because now I had an 'My Account' for the sale) went back to "my account' and dled on my laptop--again without any problem.  I did have 1.4x on both machines though.  I bought the upgrade, but the full LR 2.0 is right there on the same page to buy and others have bought and downloaded.  I just make sure I have my download backed up.

I also ordered the disc(on line) the morning after it came out. I was too excited and should have remembered that I'm a NAPP member and entitled to get a discount. Later(the same day) I realized this and called Adobe to see if I could still get the discount. I said that if there was a problem, I'd just cancel the order and reorder through the NAPP website. I was told that the order was "pending" and I would have to wait until it was shipped, then call back, cancel, and reorder over the phone and the discount would be applied then. I thought this sounded strange, but since I was talking to someone that I assume was from a foreign call center, that they probably didn't have all the facts about the new product. Even though I ordered on the 29th, I still don't know if it has been shipped, although I thought I remembered seeing on the Adobe's site that shipping was to begin on the 30th.

Diane:
Thanks for the reply. I figured it was a crock when I was told by Adobe's store support that LR2 was not yet available to purchase as a download (this was on Friday, 8/1).  So I sent an e-mail to order support inquiring if I could cancel the disk order so I could do a download order. I never used to like to download these things; always preferred a disk in case your backup of the download failed. But now so many of these sites either keep track of your serial numbers when you activate (Adobe) or allow you to set up an account into which you can post your serial numbers (NIK) which makes it very easy to re-download the software

In the meantime, I downloaded the trial version; it is importing my catalog as we speak. I figure that I should have my disk long before the 30 day trial is up.
