Assertion Failed?
« on: August 02, 2008, 11:55:56 am »

I need some help folks. I have been lurking here and following all for quite a few years now and have found most of my questions answered before I need to ask them. This one I haven't even heard of yet. (LR2)
I tried in Library to move files from one folder to another, just to combine in folder. The first shot showed as moved and then the error came up "assertion failed". Program froze so I shut down, did a restart, same error. So I did a system restore to a point a day earlier, fired up LR 2 and the same error showed up.
I am so damn addicted to LR that I am in a panic here.   Any help would be deeply appreciated.
 Thanks,
Dave

It's usually a corrupted catalog which will give an error like that.  Try holding down Ctrl (Win) / Opt (Mac) while starting, and let it start a new catalog.  If that works, try a backup catalog.  If you haven't got a recent backup, you could try Import from Catalog to pull most of the data into the fresh catalog one or two folders at a time.
